這本書的封面寫著：出版老將必備，編輯新人必學，愛書人必讀。筆者不敢稱自己是老將，然而已不是新人，當然是愛書人，所以就接受挑戰，看看這本書有多少料子。

這本書的副題是：從創意企畫到人際關係，內容涉及跟編輯有關的不同題目，層面很廣。首章講的是「編輯是甚麼」，當我看完後，我覺得所討論的不只是編輯所需的特質，其他職業的人其實都需要有這些質素，例如其中一點是「持續懷抱夢想」。從事任何職業的人若沒有夢想，當工作了一段日子後，便會失去繼續前進動力。夢想能推動你去進修學習，去發揮創意，去改變現況。也許你的夢想不是很偉大，但仍然是在推動著你走人生前面的路。
